Most seed-stage startups in India face the same IT problem: the team is hiring faster than revenue is landing, and the founders are staring at a list of laptops, monitors, and networking gear that need to be in seats by next Monday.

The default move — buying brand-new consumer laptops because they are the path of least resistance — almost always costs the company six to twelve months of runway it cannot afford to spend. Refurbished business hardware flips the math.

Sales, ops, finance

The Dell Latitude 5420 (i5-1135G7, 16 GB, 256 GB NVMe) covers Office, browser, Slack, and a CRM tab. Refurbished price: ₹14,000-17,000 per unit. Pair it with a 24-inch Dell P2422H monitor — ₹7,000-9,500 refurbished.

1. Buy two spares. They sit in a drawer until you need them. The cost is small; the value is high.
2. Standardise on as few models as possible. Two or three models across the fleet means simpler support, simpler spares, simpler re-imaging.
